Noah Media Group is thrilled to celebrate its Emmy® Award win for Outstanding Short Documentary for ‘One-Armed Wonder: The Extraordinary Story of Jimmy Hasty’ at last night’s 45th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards at Lincoln Center, New York.
Produced with UEFA for Uefa.TV, the award was accepted in New York by director Richard Milway and Executive Producer and Noah Media Group CEO John McKenna. The film is part of a series titled Extraordinary Stories which tells captivating unknown stories from UEFA competition history that have been unearthed from the archives.
With access to Hasty’s widow, sons and former teammates, and interweaving rarely seen archive as well as reconstruction, ‘One-Armed Wonder’ paints a picture of a man who lived life to the full in the face of adversity, and highlights the impact such unjust violence can have on a family and community.
The film previously won a Sportel Award in 2023 and made waves in Ireland where it was screened at a cinema in Dundalk and on Irish TV - both RTE and Virgin. The film was directed by Richard Milway (1966: Who Stole the World Cup?, Academies: Santos) with Executive Producers from Noah Media Group, Chris Peilow and John McKenna and Phil Williams and Alex Ingham from UEFA.
The Emmy® Award win is the culmination of a strong year for Noah Media Group following a recent BAFTA nomination for Hatton (NMG for Sky Documentaries) in the Best Single documentary category at the BAFTA TV Awards. Hatton also won.
